Agga arrives in the Faroe Islands – the first step on an international journey

The safety app Agga, developed by Alda Safety for small boat fishermen, has quickly established itself as a powerful tool for Icelandic small boat fishermen. The app has now been launched in the Faroe Islands and in just 2 weeks, around 50% of Faroese small boat fishermen have started using the app.

The app makes it easier for fishermen to manage safety matters in their daily operations in a simple, digital way, and includes checklists, risk assessments, educational materials and incident registration in one place.

The implementation in the Faroe Islands marks an important milestone for Alda Safety and shows that the solution has a role beyond Iceland. Although the circumstances may sometimes be different, Icelandic and Faroese small boat fishermen have much in common when it comes to safety at sea and daily operations.

“It is particularly pleasing to see Agga now also being used by Faroese fishermen. Our goal from the beginning has been to make safety management simpler and more accessible for small boat fishermen, and we are very pleased to see the solution attracting interest outside Iceland,” says Gísli Níls Einarsson, Managing Director of Alda Safety.

Agga’s rollout to the Faroe Islands is being carried out in collaboration with Sjónám (the Faroese Maritime Safety Academy), Sjóvinnustýrið (the Faroese Maritime Authority), Meginfelag Útróðrarmanna (the largest small boat fishermen’ association in the Faroe Islands) and Sprotin, a Faroese language and dictionary publisher.
